A: The lamps are hand-crafted in our shop in Bay Village, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.

Q: How long has Ektralamp been in business?

A: Our business began in March, 2008, so as of March 2020 we have been in business for twelve years.

Q: How soon can I expect my lamp to ship?

A: While we sometimes have a few piano and music stand lamps in stock, most often the lamps are made to order. Normally lamps will ship within two calendar weeks from date of order. Sometimes they will ship sooner (or later) - it all depends upon our backlog. We will let you know if there are any delays beyond two weeks, and let you know by e-mail when your lamp ships.

Q: Do I have to assemble the lamp?

A: All of our products are shipped fully assembled. Just unpack your lamp and plug it in.

Q: Where can I buy Ektralamp products?

A: Ektralamp products are available directly from our shop and can be ordered on-line or by phone. In order to keep the price as low as possible we do not sell through Amazon.com or retailers (who often require discounts of up to 50 percent or more - which would require us to increase our prices).

Q: Can I return a lamp if I'm not happy with it?

A: We want our customers to be delighted with our products. If for any reason you are not thrilled with your lamp, you may return it within 30 days of receiving it (single lamp orders only) for a full refund.

Q: Why do Ektralamp lights seem expensive?

A: Our lamps are all hand made in the United States of the finest materials. Metal is heavy guage solid brass or aluminum. Organ lamp bases are solid hardwood. The even lighting and long life provided by LEDs also come at a premium price.

Q: What are LEDs?

A: LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. LEDs are small solid-state electronic devices that radiate light when small amounts of current are passed through them. They generate very little heat and do not emit harmful UV radiation. LEDs are available in a variety of colors. We use LEDs that are particularly suited to our specific lamps.

Q: What are the benefits of LEDs?

A: LEDs create almost no heat, consume very little power, are very long lasting, and are not harmful to the environment when disposed of.

Q: My LED flashlight shines a blue light. Are all LED lights bluish?

A: LEDs come in many colors. While flashlights generally use cold (bluish) colors, we use LEDs that are simliar in color to traditional incandescent lights (warm white), or optionally LEDs that are like daylight in color (cool white). For the technically minded, our standard LEDs have a color value of 3000K (warm white), and optionally LEDs with a color value of 5000K (cool white). Unless otherwise requested we ship our lamps with the warm white LEDs.

Q: How do I replace burned out LEDs?

A: As LEDs do not burn out and thus do not need to be replaced, they are permanently installed in our lamps. In the unlikely event of an LED failure the lamp will need to be returned to our shop for repair.

Q: Do LEDs burn out?

A: Unlike incandescent or flourescent light sources, LEDs do not burn out. In time the amount of light produced by LEDs gradually reduces. Typically LEDs can last for up to 50,000 hours of use.

Q: How long do batteries last in battery powered Ektralamp lights?

A: Typically you will need to replace batteries after about 8 hours of use.

Q. Do you ship to Canada or other international locations?

A. Yes. We have shipped to many Canadian customers, as well as to customers in the UK, Europe, Australia, and other countries.Typical shipping costs outside of the US ranges between $60 and $100 US dollars.

Q: If we order an Ektralamp organ music lamp, can the base be stained to match the casework on our organ console? Would this cost extra? I suppose we would have to send you a sample.

A: Yes, a lamp base can be stained to match the casework. We do need a sample, and there will be a $100 charge for matching.

Q: How do I clean my lamp?

A: The metal parts of the lamp can be cleaned with a dampend cloth. Do not use any chemical or harsh agents as these might cause pitting or removal of the finish. Wood parts can be dusted with a Swiffer or polished with a good wood polish.
